Dr. Neema Mduma is a computer scientist and a lecturer in the School of Computational and Communication Sciences and Engineering (CoCSE) at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST). She obtained her Ph.D. in Information and Communication Sciences and Engineering from the NM-AIST. Neema is passionate about education, particularly to girls and she is the founder of BakiShule, an application that aims at preventing students from dropping out of school. In 2020, Dr. Mduma has been selected as one of the twenty “Young Talents” of the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science regional Programme in Sub-Saharan Africa for her research project on “Data-Driven Approach for Predicting Student Dropout in Secondary Schools”.
